Spoffin announces programme 2019

 01-07-2019 Spoffin, the international street arts festival that will take over the city center of Amersfoort on the 23th, 24th and 25th of August, has announced the programme of 2019. With an anniversary and 26 groups from the Netherlands and abroad, it promises to be a special tenth edition.

Spoffin, the international street arts festival that will take over the city center of Amersfoort on the 23th, 24th and 25th of August, has announced the programme of 2019. With an anniversary and 26 groups from the Netherlands and abroad, it promises to be a special tenth edition.

During this second lustrum, special attention is given to outdoor and location theater from Great Britain and Ireland. The outdoor theater in Britain is currently going through a period of unprecedented prosperity. Never before have so many new productions been initiated as in recent years. Ireland is going through a similar development on a modest scale, partly under the influence of the circus discipline that is inextricably linked to outdoor theater. A good time to show what they’ve got in store for us!

Spoffin 2019 is opened by the spectacular show ‘The Spurting Man’ by Avanti Display. The performance is a tribute to the former Festival Etcetera, where Avanti Display played in 1999. Since developing the show in 1995, Avanti has presented 'The Spurting Man' on four continents and in nineteen different countries. So it's about time he came to Spoffin!

The collaboration between the Scottish dance group Oceanallover and the Dutch Misiconi Dance Company deserves special mention. They work together on ‘Egg’, a special production for Spoffin, in which professional dancers with and without limitation participate.

Other special performances this year include the companies Compagnie Mobilette (NL), El Goma (DE), Garth Williams (GB), Company Chameleon (GB), Maleta Company (IE), Mimbre (GB), Southpaw (UK), Strong Lady (GB) and the Cie Théâtre du Voyage Intérieur (FR) project, in which thirty local women from Amersfoort participate.

The professionals are also included this year. Every year, around fifty programmers from other festivals from all over Europe are invited. In addition to the festival programme, there are special activities for them, such as a debate on a current topic and pitches in which artists present their new ideas for 2020.

But Spoffin 2019 brings much more beautiful and special street and location theater to Amersfoort. The complete programme can now be viewed at the Spoffin website. This year, Spoffin takes place from 23 to 25 August at various locations in the city center of Amersfoort.

Almost all shows during Spoffin are freely accessible. For these performances pay afterwards the ammount you thought the show was worth. You only need a ticket for the shows of MATROSE and Mirthe Dokter, which you can purchase via the website.
