Do you know that feeling of my-wardrobe-is-overflowing but-I-have-NOTHING-to-wear? In 'Life is short. Buy that dress.' Directie&Co encourages the public to reflect on the clothing-buying madness of cheap clothing, fueled by the fashion industry, which is actually off-trend and worn-out after wearing it a few times. And that produces towering mountains of clothing waste that we have no idea what to do with it.
'Life is short. Buy that dress.' is a visual dance theater performance about disposable clothing, about mememe! and overconsumption, starring a huge mountain of textiles. A story about the longing for beauty, seen and told through the clothes of this world. The world is drowning in our clothes that are thrown away.
A gigantic pile of clothing comes to life in 'Life is short. Buy that dress.' It is stacked, flies through the air, multiplies, bagged, organized, pulled, torn, carried, idolized, donated and discarded. And the woman herself is not unscathed either.
