Antero the puppet man starts all over in a new empty space. In that space he can be just the way he is and there won’t be any fuzz. But he feels this need for someone to dance with! Perhaps a couple of juggling balls could do? Maybe a girlfriend or something?
Antero is middle-aged, short in size and full of temperament. Antero moves into an empty space. How nice to get a new chance, start all over, all by himself, or what? What’s that voice? Who’s that strange woman showing up and not leaving him alone?
Antero loves fringes and the sun-like light from the lamp. In the drawer and drewer he finds all kinds of different stuff. He’s got points and stripes to hold on to, and he can become almost anything, for example a juggling cowboy.
But he does need a dance partner. He finds girlfriends of all different styles in the paper, but only one like him. But when she shows up at his doorstep, he panics… Her name is Andrea and she loves everything at his place. She’s a better juggler than him, but she lacks Antero’s sense of balance. Together they play the accordion, they sing and juggle. Learning to accept himself the way he is… he finally finds happiness and love.
Frida Odden Brinkmann is a juggler and circus artist (Gandini Juggling, Jérôme Thomas Cie and Nofit State Circus); with 1 ½ she combines puppetry and circus into a curious solo performance for indoors and outdoors.
