Constructing a tower of 120 metal buckets, four meters high, with the help of the audience. What could possibly go wrong?
On the face a simple lo tech street theatre performance. However beneath this simplicity is a piece that plays with audience behavior and the complicity between audience and performer. How about that one walled up volunteer, at the mercy of four spectators holding the ropes and given the power?
The performers encourage singing in a peaceful way, like humming or chanting, to indicate a state of peace and calm. But what if the singing develops to a more heightened state of almost hysteria akin to a drinking chant?
Avanti Display performs more than 25 years and we all know The Spurting Man from all over the world. This new show is developed in 2017 with the support of the Arts Council England.
